STOP, LOOK and Listen

Today in Y2, Janene (a road safety officer) came to talk to us about keeping safe when travelling and walking around. We have been given a lot of information about staying safe on the roads around the local area and we got to practise crossing roads and what types of crossings we have in the local area. Check out our photos from today.

Top Trump’s Fun!

For the past few weeks we have been researching facts about nocturnal animals using computers, books and our visit to the Chestnut Centre.
We have linked our Science with Art and have each made a set of top Trump’s cards. We have waited so long to be able to play them with our friends but today the time had arrived!and we LOVED it!!

Poetry in motion

Today in year two, we had a poet visit our classroom to help us create some animal poetry. Thinking about using our adjectives, verbs and adverbs we created some fantastic poetry.

Owl,
White and black,
Flying, hunting, resting,
Wings, talons, feathers,
Flapping, turning
Screeching
Owl

The chestnut centre

In y2 we have been learning about nocturnal animals. We went to the
Chestnut Centre to learn more about nocturnal animals. We saw lots of animals in their habitats and some otters and deer as well. Check out our photos, it was a great day!

Investigating animal poo

The children in year two have been investigating which animal poo belongs to which nocturnal animal! Using placebo poo (flour, food colouring, berries, salt, sugar and cotton hairs) and using magnifying glasses, each child tried to identify which animal the poo might belong to! Could you tell?

Eggstremely fun science day!

Last week we kitted ourselves out with our smart looking scientist coats ready for a day full of science!

First we made a prediction on whether lemonade, vinegar or water would make an egg bounce!
Then we wrote our experiment up.
Next we took out three different eggs which had been soaked in the liquids for three days and tried to peel off the shell.
Underneath the vinegar egg was a very bouncy looking egg!
Luckily we didn’t smash any but we did have a smelly classroom by the end of the day!

This week we will be looking through animal poo!!!(pretend though!)
